John M. Obzud is an executive vice president and divisional agency manager for Fidelity National Title Group. In this position, he oversees agency operations in Florida and FNTG’s Southwest and West Agency Regions, as well as Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. It’s a large territory, but John is one of Fidelity’s National Title Group’s best resources, so it’s great that so many of our agents lean on him.
Before coming to FNTG in 2008, John was a top regional agency manager for Commonwealth and Lawyers Title (LandAmerica). He has been in the mortgage and title insurance industry for more than three decades and his varied experience is part of the reason John is so effective today.
Even before starting his work in the title industry, John was the vice president and in-house counsel in the mortgage division for a large national bank in Baltimore. For eight years in the 1970s and ‘80s, John worked for the city of Bel Air, Maryland, serving as director of planning, zoning and community development. He has truly done a little bit of everything when it comes to real estate, and that experience always pays dividends for you.
He holds a BA in political science and government from Lycoming College in Pennsylvania, a MA degree in urban planning and public policy analysis from Morgan State University, Baltimore, and a JD from the University of Baltimore Law School. He is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bar associations and is involved in ALTA and many other industry-related activities. John resides in Maitland, Florida, with his wife, Cindy, and their three miniature schnauzers.
